WHAT TO EXPECT
Many of my clients have shared that they did not know what to expect when contacting or hiring a designer. In my case, I try to remain flexible and approachable, with little pressure. The main reason I charge an hourly rate is because every project is different. So, I have outlined an example below of what typically transpires with a majority of my clients:
1. Getting to Know You: We will get together for about 1 hour at your home or workplace. I’ll take some photos and measurements of your space. Then I’ll ask some questions to help me understand your wants and needs. We’ll also go over the details of how we will work together.
2. Creative Planning: I will draft ideas and suggestions based on your needs. It could be furniture layouts, paint color selections, flooring, lighting, window treatments, art/accessories or starting discussions with contractors. This typically takes 1 - 2 hours depending on the project.
3. “Menu” Options: We’ll get back together (usually at clients home) for ½ - 1 hour to review what I call the menu,
because it outlines what you want to accomplish, how to do it and what it will cost. Details and specifications can be provided, as well as selections, recommendations and estimates for work.
4. Your Personal Plan: You now have a plan and you can decide what you want to accomplish, your timeline, and level of involvement. Then the fun begins!
5. I Can Shop for You or With You: I have access to lots of fun, traditional or trendy stuff from Furniture, Lighting and Accessory markets that break away from the cookie-cutter looks that everyone has. Customers tell me they appreciate the high quality, unique pieces that increase their options.
We can also shop locally – whatever works to accomplish your goals and stay within your budget!
